How NUmed Tripled Patient Calls on the Same Google Ads Budget

Healthcare Marketing – DigiRaps blog

NUmed Super Speciality Hospital in Greater Noida was spending about ₹4.5 lakh a month on Google Ads. The account was buying lots of clicks — but very few of them were patients. Here is what changed when we rebuilt it in June 2026.

The numbers

Metric March 2026 July 2026 Change
Patient calls 228 674 +196%
Cost per call ₹1,980 ₹661 −67%
Clicks bought 18,957 5,699 −70%
Monthly spend ₹4.52L ₹4.46L Same

Across three months before and after: March–May with broad targeting produced 550 calls from 40,419 clicks; June–August with our model produced 1,626 calls from 15,802 clicks. Cost per call fell from about ₹2,000 to about ₹700 and stayed there.

What we changed

1. Broad match swapped for high-intent keywords

Broad match was showing ads for loosely related searches — general health information, distant locations and even unrelated terms. We rebuilt campaigns around specialty, procedure and “near me” searches with clear intent to visit.

2. Phone calls tracked and fed back to Google

Google was optimising for clicks because it could not see calls. We set up call tracking and conversion import so the algorithm learned which searches produced real patient calls.

3. Job, free and course searches blocked

Hospital keywords attract nursing jobs, free treatment, and medical-course searches. A thorough negative-keyword list stopped paying for them.

Why fewer clicks meant more patients

Clicks fell 70% — and calls nearly tripled. The budget simply stopped being spent on people who were never going to become patients.

Beyond ads

NUmed’s wider programme — reels and creatives, Google Maps, Meta ads and review work — produced 300× follower growth, +230% walk-ins traced to marketing, +590% OPD consultations and a 12× revenue increase. Read the full case study and download the PDF.
